I really really liked this PSA. I think was really creative and really showed the therapeutic effects of art therapy.

Questions

1. What are the key points you will emphasis?

I will focus on the importance of art in all lifestyles and how art therapy can help people. I will then focus on spreading awareness.

2. What visuals and audio are appropriate?

Simplicity and happy music will be used.

3. What type of PSA will you use?

I think I will use a combination of drawing and pictures to convey my point.

4. Outline:

I am still unsure of the direction I am headed with my PSA, I need to research more and create a script.

How to write a PSA

I think the biggest thing I noticed was the importance of creativity. There are hundreds of Public Service Announcements out there, and the things that will make people notice yours is the creativity. It needs to be simple and easy to understand but also different from the typical cookie cutter video. I found this article extremely helpful.

Entry 1: Capstone Project Statement of Intent

Identify the goals of the project

The goal of my project to spread awareness about art therapy and it's uses. I want to create a children's picture book that will appeal to multiple audiences. Instead of pamphlets to spread information I hope to use this children's book to convey information to parents and children. This will encourage people to interact with art therapy in the work place, in schools, or even at home.

Why is it important and why should we care?

A big issue with art therapy is the fact that not a lot of people know about it. They do not know about its potential to help hundreds of people. It is flexible enough to help a wide range of diseases, disorders, or even common people of any age.

How do these goals fit with your career objectives?

I hope to pursue a degree in education, I want to become an art teacher. Art is therapeutic to those of all ages, it can be particularly helpful to those in school, whether they are facing issues at home, stress of school, or even those juggling multiple activities. Art allows students to relax and get their thoughts and feelings onto paper or canvas.

How does your project give back to society?

My project will inform society of the benefits of art therapy. It will encourage people to pursue art therapy and relieve those in need.

Final Yearbook Design

How you liked your design or not?

I actually really liked this design despite its simplicity. Although it only has words it explores the theme in an good manner and I liked the way the different size text and fonts compliment each other.

Techniques used to explore diversity:

In the purple text in the back ground I listed all the countries within in the world. These countries represent the different countries from around the world that are represented in the student body of RCHS.

How you liked your design or not?

I am not a big fan of this one, I liked where I was headed but I didn't quite get there. I feel as if it just isn't quite fully completed.

Techniques used to explore diversity:

I used a quote the compared language to a road, I then used that to represent the multitude of other languages that are spoken among the student body of RCHS.

My theme is based on Dr. Seuss' book "Oh, the places you'll go". I read this book when  I was little and it was always one of my favorites. This quote sticks out to me especially as we're about to graduate and head in different directions. I used different fonts emphasize different parts.

Typography

My word was flower. The meaning is explained through my use of images in the background. The images display a garden full of flowers including a sun, dirt, and grass. The use of images and range of colors show the meaning of the word flower.

Capstone Poster Outline

Title:
Painting What We See Within

Thesis:
Although art therapy has proven itself to be credible over and over again, researchers and scientist refuse to acknowledge art therapy with respect.  Art Therapy has the ability to help thousands of people; however, if it is not respected, it cannot gain clients and cannot be beneficial to society.

Body Paragraph One:
This paragraph explains the actual definition of art therapy.

1. “art therapy is one of the earliest forms of communication, dating back to the Paleolithic age. Art therapy has been increasingly beneficial and effective in the treatment of various types of both mental and physical conditions"
2. “customizable to the ever-changing life of the patient”

Citation: Bitonte A., and Marisa De Santo. "Art Therapy: An Underutilized, Yet Effective Tool." Mental Illness (2036-7457) 6.1 (2014): 18-19. Academic Search Complete. Web. 1 Oct. 2014.

Body Paragraph Two:
This paragraph discusses the meaning of art therapy and how people often misinterpret its actual purpose.

1. “people new to art therapy are often confused about just what the term art therapy means. While it was coined to describe the use of art expression in therapy, it frequently generates some unusual assumptions”
2. “a wide range of people. The use of art therapy has been documented with a variety of people including children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly; people with addictions; individuals with serious and sometimes terminal diseases; war veterans; people with disabilities; families experiencing disabilities; prisoners; and individuals experiencing a wide spectrum of emotional disorders”
 3. “art therapy is a dynamic experience, requiring one to participate in one’s owns treatment, in this case through art making. Therefore, truly understanding art therapy requires firsthand experience”

Citation: Malchiodi, Cathy A. The Art Therapy Sourcebook. New York: McGraw-Hill, 2007. Print.

Body Paragraph Three:
This paragraph discusses the benefits of white therapy.
1. "for those whose capacity is limited or non-existent or for those who cannot find the words for their experiences”

Citation: Kelly, Jo. "What is Art Therapy and How do we Know it Works? An Australian Perspective on the Need for More Research." International Journal Of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences 5.5 (2010): 255-259. Academic Search Complete. Web. 7 Oct. 2014.

Conclusion:
My solution to help stop this issue is to spread awareness about art therapy and its benefits.
